A photo from 2018. I'd gotten it into my head that I wanted a betta fish, and it ended up being the first fish I ever owned. Bettas are solitary creatures, and small, shallow pools of water are part of their natural habitat. I only learned how important solitude was to him later, when I bought a bigger aquarium and added a whole school of fish.
A fluffy black cat sits by an open window, watching over a small glass fishbowl with a colorful blue and red betta fish. Soft green foliage fills the sunlit background.
